  • At select Boys & Girls Club locations families can make an appointment to pick up a bag filled with food that can provide the basics for several days’ worth of meals, with special foods that their kids will enjoy.

  • Door-to-door food deliveries and drive-up food pantry. Serving Carson City, Douglas County, Lyon County, and Storey County. Drive-up food pantry services available the 1st and 3rd Fridays of the month from 12:00 PM to 4:30 PM and the 2nd and 4th Saturdays from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM.

  • The Bridge Food Pantry has been serving the community since November 2010. Every year, they distribute almost 50 tons of food and provide food assistance for about 500 families every month. The Bridge Food Pantry is a 100% volunteer-run organization and is funded through the Community Partnership Fund of The Bridge.  They also partner with Catholic Charities of Northern Nevada, the Northern Nevada Food Bank, and Raley’s. Their mission is to distribute free food to anyone who needs it, without prerequisites such as needs tests or letters of referral. Open for food distribution on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month from 8:00 – 10:00 am.

  • The Salvation Army Food Pantry offers services every 60 days and is open to the public. All that is needed is a photo id. Most services require you to be a resident of Washoe County, however, they do offer transient services as well. All persons will be required to show valid identification (exception is made for persons requesting food for the first time).

  • The Valley View Christian Fellowship Church sponsors a weekly food pantry to provide groceries to those in need. All are welcome and no family is too big or too small. This food pantry is every Sunday 8:00am - 9:00am at 1805 Geiger Grade Rd.

HOT/CONGREGATE MEALS

  • The St. Vincent’s Dining Room is Reno’s oldest "soup kitchen" welcoming all who are hungry in our community. The dining room serves a free hot take-out style lunch to over 1,000 people a day, 7 days a week. Lunch is served at 11:30 am – 12:30 pm, Monday – Saturday at 325 Valley Road, Reno. There are no requirements to be served.

Every day they serve breakfast to homeless and needy women and children at 7:00am, dinner to homeless and needy women and children at 5:00pm, and dinner to homeless and needy men at 5:30pm. Located at 2115 Timber Way. Walk-in for women and children. Men must sign up for dinner by 10:00am.

SERVING SENIORS

  • Through the Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP), the Food Bank of Northern Nevada provides a monthly box of nutritious food to low-income seniors 60 years and over. Boxes are distributed at more than 40 locations across Reno, Sparks, and rural northern Nevada.

    CSFP Distribution Schedule

    In addition to the CSFP Program, the Food Bank of Northern Nevada has added more distributions to deliver fresh produce to Seniors. This program is called Produce on Wheels.

    Program Details

  • Provides eligible clients with home delivered meals each week. To be eligible, participants must be 60 years of age or older, homebound due to illness, disability or geographic isolation, and unable to attend a congregate meal sites offered by Washoe County Senior Services.

  • The program provides one meal per day to seniors 60+ and qualified individuals (spouse of a senior, disabled living at a nutrition site (and eating at that site), or disabled person dependent on a senior). A hot meal or fresh salad is provided Monday through Friday at ten senior meal locations. Monthly menus are available online or at each meal site location. With the exception of the Washoe County Senior Center, reservations must be made by 8:30 AM on the desired day. Individuals wishing to enjoy a fresh salad in place of a hot meal are required to sign up in person or by phone at the desired meal location by 8:30 AM that day.

    Program Information

  • Their mission is to deliver nutritious meals to older adults facing food insecurity that reduces isolation and enables them to continue living independently for as long as safely possible. This program seeks to create a Truckee/North Lake Tahoe community for older adults whereby hunger, isolation and loss of independence is eliminated. Tuesday through Friday, Sierra Senior Services provides meals to eligible seniors with a medical need who are not able to leave their homes. This allows them to live independently in their homes as long as possible. In addition to our Home Delivered Meals, they offer an alternative congregate dining option to those seniors over 60 who do not meet the eligibility requirement but still need help with meals.
